Yes to the dress

Outfit details: Thrifted denim jacket, Old Navy dress, Target tights, Steve Madden boots

I may or may not have broken a certain retail diet of mine, but when I saw this adorable striped number hanging on the rack at Old Navy - with a $15 price tag - I had to say yes. It's horrible, I know. But the versatility of a black and white striped t-shirt dress will surely make this a justifiable purchase in the future. I am incredibly proud of myself for holding off on purchases for the past two months, and even more proud of the money I have saved because of it. But we all slip up once and a while, right?

Today's outfit - like all the others from this week - was about comfort. In the midst of midterms and unpredictable Oregon weather, I've stuck to the basics lately. On a busy day, uncomfortable clothing and shoes are the last things anyone wants to be fussing about.

I've heard rumor that Google Friend Connect will soon be unavailable to those without Google accounts. I know this is frustrating to a lot of bloggers - myself, included - since it possibly means losing connection with some readers. I love you guys too much for that to happen! So I'm looking for alternative ways to share new posts, outfits, and news. You can already find Coffee and Cardigans on Bloglovin' and I always post updates to my Twitter. I know that plenty of bloggers use Facebook as one more outlet to connect with others. What do you guys think - would you say yes to a Facebook page for C&C?

Pretty in pink and red

Outfit Details: H&M blouse, LC Lauren Conrad pants, Forever21 clutch, Target wedges, Thirfted necklace

Yes, it's Valentine's Day. I'm not celebrating, but I am using today as an excuse to mix red and pink... and link up with the lovely ladies of Every Body, Every Wear! Be sure to take a look at all the pink-and-red mixes happening today! I've been playing around with different color combinations lately, so this prompt was absolutely perfect.

To be honest, I spent more time than normal digging through my closet this morning, trying to settle on something to wear. I don't own much pink... Or even red for that matter. But I did pick up this red snakeskin clutch from Forever21 a few months back - a reasonable purchase at $10 - and thought it would be the perfect way to add that splash of red to my day.

Wishing everyone a happy Valentine's Day from here at Coffee and Cardigans! How do you feel about the holiday? Do you have any special plans to celebrate? Regardless, I hope you know just how much I love each of you - you guys are the best Valentine a girl could ask for.

Friday casual

Outfit details:Thrifted chambray shirt, LC Lauren Conrad bottoms, Steve Madden Boots, Thrifted necklace

Friday! Even though it's the end of the week - and I am relieved, believe me - this was not one of those mornings I sprang out of bed, ready for a new day. But come to think about it, I don't know if I ever "spring" out of bed. It's more like a begrudging roll from between the covers. Hence the incredibly casual and simple outfit for today. At least I got dressed - right?

I'm making a quick trip out of town to visit family in my hometown - which is always a treat! Time with family seems impossible these days, but I am always happy to take what I can get. I hope everyone had an amazing week - how are you spending the weekend?

Oh, Pleather

Outfit details: Thrifted Denim Jacket, Forever21 Tunic, Faux Leather Leggings, Target Wedges

Call me crazy... Because I might just be for picking up these faux leather leggings before I started my retail diet last month. I have Kendi to thank for inspiring this outfit and the purchase to begin with. Surprisingly, they are incredibly comfortable. And not so surprisingly, people will stare when you wear them out in public. I took take a lesson from Kendi's outfit and opted for a longer top, which certainty helps makes the look more daytime appropriate. It's going to take a little creativity to find other ways to wear these

I am also linking up for the last day of Keely and Megan's Layer Up Challenge. Today's prompt called for layering a dress (or tunic, in my case) over a pair of pants. As always, it was great to join in for a few days of layering up against the cold weather.

I hope that everyone is enjoying the start to their weekend... And to the new month! February is here already and I am looking forward to sharing some exciting things here on Coffee and Cardigans! I will be back on Monday with regular scheduled programing, but until then, I am dying to know: what are your thoughts on faux leather - or pleather? Would you try this trend for yourself? Do you have a recommendation on how to remix or style these shiny pants of mine?

Back on campus

Outfit details: Macy's sweater, Thrifted skirt, Gifted scarf, Boots, Vintage bracelet

This week marked the start of a brand new term - one that promises to be as exciting as it is busy. My schedule had me running from class to class, cramming in reading for my American Novel course in between. But so far, I have absolutely loved my classes and can't wait to get started! Luckily, I did find a few minutes to snap outfit photos with a friend.

These cold January days have brought along some beautiful sunshine that has me lusting for warmer days already. I found this teal skirt on the half price racks at a local thrift store about a year ago and wore it religiously through the summer months. But I think adding a pair of thick tights and boots can take almost any dress or skirt from one season to another. At least it proved true in this case.

I just wanted to say thank you so, so much for all the amazing support and feedback as Coffee and Cardigans is getting up and running. It really does mean the world to me! Wishing you all a very happy Wednesday!
